Delfos identified a subtle but critical flaw in the efficiency of a solar inverter, preventing a monthly loss of 10 MWh — all with the help of the platform's intelligent and predictive monitoring.

In solar power plants, efficiency losses in the conversion of DC to AC energy can go unnoticed, directly impacting energy production. In a plant monitored by Delfos, one of the inverters (IN-7.1) was operating at 1.5% lower efficiency than the others, representing an anomaly with significant loss potential. This type of fault is difficult to detect without advanced analysis, as the equipment continues to operate, but with degraded performance.

Implemented Solution

Using the Delfos analysis modules, it was possible to identify a deviation in the behavior of the IN-7.1 inverter in relation to the others in the plant.
- The Analyses and Energy Losses modules signaled a persistent inefficiency in the DC/AC conversion.
- The analysis pointed to the DC Link component as the possible point of failure.
The field team was called in and, after inspection, confirmed a calibration error in the converter voltage, which was corrected by adjusting the voltage gain.

Achieved Results

After the adjustment, the IN-7.1 inverter's operating data converged with the others, as shown in the graphs below. The conversion efficiency was normalized, eliminating the deviation that caused hidden losses.
